Connect up to 8 SL VARIO applications (per central module) for signal exchange via network modules.
Prerequisites:
- Central Module per Application: Each SL VARIO application requires its own central module on which it is executed.
- Network Module (DNSL-NIV): Each SL VARIO application that is to participate in data transmission requires a DNSL-NIV network module. This module is inserted into the corresponding central module of the application.
- RJ45 Connectors on the Network Module: The network modules have two RJ45 connectors that are intended for networking.
Connection of the Applications:
- Patch Cables: Use standard patch cables (network cables with RJ45 connectors) to connect the RJ45 connectors of the network modules in the various central modules to each other.
- Serial Connection: The applications are connected in a serial chain. Connect an RJ45 connector of the network module of one application to an RJ45 connector of the network module of the next application, and so on.
Configuration of Signal Transmission in SL VARIO Designer:
- Assignment of Inputs and Outputs: In the SL VARIO Designer, you configure the detailed data exchange between the connected applications. Here you define which signals from the inputs and outputs of one application are to be sent to or received by other applications. (32 data inputs and 32 data outputs available)
- Network Module Configuration: The configuration refers to the network modules in the respective central modules. You define which data points communicate via the network.
Important Note:
RJ45 Usage: The RJ45 connectors on the network modules must be used exclusively for the described data communication between SL VARIO applications. Any other use (e.g., for Ethernet networks) is not permitted.
Interruption of Connection:
- Manual Acknowledgment: In the event of an interruption of the data transmission, manual restoration is required via the "Quit" symbol in the SL VARIO Designer. This symbol refers to the function of the network module.
Summary:
Each SL VARIO application runs on its own central module. For communication, the central modules require network modules (DNSL-NIV) with RJ45 connectors. The physical connection is made serially via patch cables between the network modules. In the SL VARIO Designer, you define which input and output signals are to be exchanged between the applications.
