Operating synchronous motors with the DN3PD1 sensorless speed monitoring module

When using the DN3PD1 modules in combination with synchronous motors, a separate validation must be carried out.

Before using a DN3PD1 module in combination with a synchronous motor, it is mandatory to run a functional test.

How is the separate validation to be performed?

To perform the validation please follow these instructions:

  • Switch on the drive train to be monitored.
  • Check the operational readiness of the speed monitor (LED OK lights up green).
  • The SPEED LED signals by a green signal that the frequencies at the drive are within the set limits.
  • The release contacts (13-14 / 23-24) of the device are closed.
  • Now move the drive into a frequency range that is not permitted, so that the device trips.
  • The release contacts (13-14 / 23-24) of the device should now be open.
  • Then disconnect phase W from the device (terminal L3).
  • Verify whether the enable contacts (13-14 / 23-24) are still open.

Has my validation been succesfull?

The test was successful if the enable contacts have remained open with the frequency being impermissible and phase W disconnected.

Your combination is now validated separately. Operation of the device is permitted in the tested configuration.

Validation using an identical drive train is sufficient as a reference.

A different parameterization or varying cable length is not decisive for the result of this separate validation.

What if my device is already in operation?

To ensure the desired function, the described validation must be performed subsequently on each machine as part of a machine service.

Validation failed?
