Connect BE and PEs in a serial/star configuration via patch cable (max. 100 m in total) for the SL VARIO cascade configuration.
Type of connection:
The connection between the base unit (BE) and the peripheral units (PE), as well as between the individual peripheral units, is made using standard patch cables (network cables with RJ45 plugs).
Possible cascading types:
Two types of cascading are possible:
- Serial cascading: The units are connected linearly in series (BE -> PE1 -> PE2 -> ...).
- Star-shaped cascading: Several peripheral units are connected directly to the base unit (requires corresponding connections on the ZMV or possibly additional components if star-shaped cascading is implemented via CMV - this should be checked in detail in the hardware documentation).
Maximum cable length:
The sum of the lengths of all patch cables used within a cascade must not exceed a maximum length of 100 meters. Make sure to keep the cable lengths as short as possible to ensure reliable data transmission.
